Drivers are being told to find alternative routes as a busy road remains closed as a result of heavy flooding.

The often submerged A1101 Welney Wash Road near Downham Market is closed.

A spokesman for the volunteer group Welney Flood Watch said the road is currently covered by 43 inches of water.

On Monday emergency services were called to a lorry that got stuck in the road after attempting to cross it.

Three crews remained at the scene for nearly 90 minutes, only leaving at around 6.40am where they managed to rescue the man without him requiring medical attention.

The parish council along with Norfolk highways have since blocked off the road preventing any vehicles from attempting passage as the lorry remains blocking the road.
