Emergency services attended an incident in Carrow Road after the Norwich game last night. 

Police, fire and ambulance crews were seen on Carrow Bridge near the football stadium. 

A spokesman for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to assist police.

An eyewitness said that fans were asked to avoid the area after it was announced over the PA system inside the stadium. 

A season ticket holder who had left the match just a few minutes early with his young son witnessed the incident.

He said: "There was an incident with a young person in crisis in a dangerous position and while two Norwich city fans called 999 and tried to assist themselves I ran back to the football ground and raised the alarm for urgent assistance from stewards.

"I would like to highlight to instantaneous and professional response from the football club's stewards until the emergency services arrived."

A spokeswoman for Norfolk Police said officers were called to reports of a concern for safety of a woman who was found on the wrong side of the barrier at Carrow Bridge along Carrow Road at about 9.15pm. 

They added: "Officers attended following a call from a member of the public. The incident was safely resolved by 9.45pm.

"The road was closed and Norfolk Fire and Rescue were on scene with a boat."
