Former prime minister Liz Truss has opened a café-bistro in a historic windmill in west Norfolk.

The Denver Mill Café-Bistro was opened by business partners Emma Gibson and Jayne Highnam last month.

The bistro in Sluice Road is part of several businesses bringing the old mill back to life, sharing the space with the Blackstone Engine Bar, the 2 River Brewery Tap Room and Denver Mill beauty salon.

Truss visited the café at their launch on January 18.

Ms Gibson, who is a trained chef with several years in the food industry, aims to inspire customers with a locally sourced menu which is "simple but made well".

Denver Mill's history has been a big draw for many customers. Ms Highnam said: "We have met people from all over the world who have been very impressed with the café, the food and the location.

"The whole site is a real draw for people and lots of people have shared memories of times gone by when the site was a working mill."

Ms Gibson added: "We have even been contacted by a lady in Australia whose great, great, great, grandfather used to work on the site in the late 1800's.

"We have offered her a little look around when she visits the site and steps in the shoes of her relatives."
