A major road will see three weeks of disruption due to roadworks.

Works on the A47 between Links Road Roundabout and Victoria Road Roundabout in Gorleston will start on February 19 and closures will be in place as a result.

The project to refresh the road markings will take roughly three weeks to complete and will be carried out on weeknights between 9pm and 6am.

Phase one of the works is expected to take four nights and will see the overnight closure of the A47 in both directions between Middleton Roundabout and Hopton Roundabout.

Eastbound traffic will be diverted via William Adams Way on to the A143 westbound, heading southbound on to the A146 towards Bridge Road, Normanston Drive, Peto Way and Millennium Way before rejoining the A47.

Westbound traffic will be diverted on to the A1144 westbound, then on to the A1117 towards Bridge Road, heading on to the A146, and A143 before rejoining the A47.

Phase two of the works will take approximately 11 nights and will be carried out in sections which will see the closure of the A47 between Links Road Roundabout and Brasenose Avenue, then Brasenose Avenue to Middleton Roundabout and finally Middleton Roundabout to Victoria Roundabout.

Traffic will be diverted via William Adams Way, the A143 and Beaufort Way before rejoining the A47.

Access to the James Pages Hospital will be maintained throughout the closures, either via Brasenose Avenue or the main entrance.
