A lifeboat crew was called out to rescue a boat stranded on the Norfolk Broads.

The vessel, with two people on board, suffered engine problems on a windy Barton Broad as darkness fell yesterday.

Humber Coastguard was alerted and passed on the call to Hemsby Broads Rescue at around 6pm.

The crew reached the stranded boat and amid "challenging conditions" tried to tow it back to Stalham.

But because of the size of the boat and weather conditions, the attempt was abandoned.

Instead, those on board the boat opted to stay with the vessel which was mudweighted securely.
