A city dentist could be taking on more patients if a proposed expansion is approved.

Andrew Brown Dental Surgery in Hall Road has applied to Norwich City Council to convert the adjoining two-bedroom flat into two new examination rooms.

The surgery currently occupies the building at 90 Hall Road but would knock a wall through to 88a, expanding the premises by 340 square metres.

This would allow the practitioner to employ a new member of staff and move two of the part-time trainee nurses into full-time work.

Masoud Shahram, the practice's clinical director, confirmed they would be taking on more private patients if the expansion is approved.

A rough timeline has been estimated for May should the application be given the go ahead this month.

He added that while the practice has an NHS contract, it is "very small" and would likely not result in many more NHS patient spaces.

According to the practice, the loss of the two-bedroom flat for use by the surgery is a "net positive".
