Customers getting their eyes tested will now be able to charge their cars for free, thanks to a new service by a family optician in Norfolk.

The Specs Factory, which is based on Europa Way in Norwich, has added electric vehicle (EV) charging points to its car park, which customers will be able to use free of charge when they come in for an eye test.

The independent optician said it had spent around £2,000 on the new facilities in the hope it would encourage more people travelling into the city to pay them a visit.

Managing director Duncan Hockney said: “I’m delighted that we can offer our customers the extra benefit of some free ‘fuel’ for their EVs.

"Many of our customers travel to us from the surrounding Norfolk villages so they won’t have to worry about range anxiety for their journey home.

“Increasing numbers of our customers are switching to EVs so I’m delighted that we can give them this extra benefit.

“It can be hard to find a charger but at least our customers know that they can top-up while they have an eye-test.”
