A large number of fire crews were called to fight a house fire this morning. 

Firefighters from Dereham, Watton, Hingham, Earlham, Carrow and Swaffham were called to a home in Lisbon Road, Dereham, at 2.55am following reports of a fire. 

They used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire around 6.10am and have since used a thermal imaging camera to check there is no risk of another fire breaking out.

A man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road is closed while emergency services carry out additional checks. 

Neighbouring properties have been evacuated as a precaution and a police cordon is currently in place whilst enquiries are made.  

Lisbon Road is on the so-called European cities development off the Hillcrest Avenue estate in Toftwood.
