Plans for a retirement bungalow have been turned down because the design is too cramped.

A developer named as Mrs Bloy in council papers applied to build the one-bedroom property in Dersingham, near King's Lynn.

But West Norfolk council has refused planning permission for the house, behind 22 Pansey Drive.

A planning officer's report said: "The proposed bungalow; by reasons of the proximity of built form to the highway and positioning on land which reads as rear garden land; would appear as a cramped design which would represent overdevelopment."

A planning statement said: "The proposed development will allow the owner to maintain an independent life by relocating to a smaller highly efficient property and remain within the locale where she has lived for more than 30 years."

Two letters of support were received. But Dersingham Parish Council objected, calling the proposals "cramped over-development of the site".
