There is spinning as well as flipping going on at a newly-opened dessert bar in a Norwich food hall.

Christophe's Kitchen has just launched at Yalm in the historic Royal Arcade, which is home to an array of local food and drink vendors.

It is based in the conveyor belt bar area on the ground floor, which was previously the home of Milk, and rotating sweet treats greet customers as they enter the venue.

On the belt are baked desserts, such as crêpe cheesecake and an apple caramel open pie.

Made to order, customers can also choose a base of either a crêpe, stacked pancakes, French toast or mini Dutch pancakes.

They can then select a filling or topping, ranging from banoffee to berries and cream, with milkshakes and sundaes also on the menu.

Christophe's Kitchen is run by couple Chris and Lauren Smith, who have also had Christophe’s Crêpes in Pottergate since 2020 and a food truck for events since 2011.

The business was inspired by Mr Smith's nan Thelma, who cooked pancakes for him when he was growing up.

The couple then fell in love with crêpes after trips around Europe.

Mr Smith said: "We were looking to expand the business and this opportunity came up.

"We decided to go for it as we really like Yalm and the Royal Arcade and knew we would work well in here.

"The place in Pottergate is a crêperie, whereas this is a dessert bar that offers crêpes as part of the menu."

Mrs Smith added: "We shut at 5pm over there but we are open until 10pm at Yalm, so our food can now be enjoyed in the evenings too.

"We already had customers come up to the window in Pottergate when we were closing and now we can direct them to Yalm."
