An investigation is continuing into the death of an 84-year-old woman who died following a crash with a lorry.

June Gafney was the front seat passenger of a Vauxhall Agila when it collided with a Scania HGV on June 19 last year at 4.11pm.

The crash happened on the A143 Beccles Road, close to the junction with Loddon Road, in Haddiscoe.

A review into her death was held at Norfolk Coroner’s Court this week.

Area coroner Samantha Goward said: “For reasons currently unknown the vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

“Emergency services attended and Ms Gafney was transferred to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

“But she’d sadly sustained life-threatening injuries and passed away on June 20, 2023.”

The driver of the Vauxhall was taken to James Paget Hospital with serious injuries. His current condition is unknown.

Ms Goward added: “We are still awaiting further information with regards to any further action in relation to that collision so it’s not ready to proceed to inquest at the moment.”

A further review will take place on May 1.
