A man who was reported as missing to the police died after drowning in a river at King's Lynn, a court has heard.

Robert McAdam was reported as missing having last been seen at around 4am on Saturday, October 28.

An inquest opened into his death on Monday, which heard his body was discovered on Wednesday, November 15. He was 28.

During a short hearing, senior coroner Jacqueline Lake said Mr McAdam's body was discovered in a stretch of river running parallel to Nar Ouse Way in King's Lynn.

The court heard that his medical cause of death had been provided by a pathologist as drowning.

However, a secondary cause of death was also provided as cocaine and alcohol toxicity.

Mr McAdam's disappearance sparked appeals for information from police and searches, which lasted for more than two weeks.

Mrs Lake also heard that Mr McAdam was born in Wales, but lived in Castle Road in King's Lynn.

A full inquest into his death has been scheduled to take place on April 16.
