A man has died following a crash on the A11 in west Suffolk. 

Police were called at 10.10pm on Thursday, January 4, to a single-vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway at Barton Mills, near Mildenhall.

A blue BMW M3 was found to have left the road and crashed into some trees.

The East of England Ambulance Service and Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to the scene, but the driver of the car, a man, was declared dead at the scene.

Peter Harvey, aged 50 and from Soham in Cambridgeshire, has been named as the man who has died, pending formal inquest proceedings.

The A11 southbound carriageway was closed while an investigation took place and reopened at 5.20am on Friday following a six-hour closure.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the crash and ask that any motorists who were driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle review the footage.
