2024 will get off to an unsettled start with weather warnings issued for heavy rain and high winds in Norfolk.

The Met Office has announced a yellow weather warning for rain for parts of the UK from 5pm on Monday, January 1 until 9pm on Tuesday, January 2.

This includes northern and western parts of Norfolk and it just skims the north of Norwich.

Heavy rain falling on saturated ground is likely to cause some travel disruption, particularly as many people head back to work on Tuesday after the Christmas break.

Over the warning period, 15 to 30mm of rain is likely to fall fairly widely, with a few places seeing 35 to 50mm.

A second yellow weather warning will run alongside this for "very windy weather" from 8am until 9pm on Tuesday, which covers the whole of Norfolk.

Wind speeds are forecasted to peak in the evening in Norfolk, reaching up to 45mph in some areas for a limited time.
