A man who died after driving into a deep, fast-flowing ford has been named.
Barry Howard, 75, had been expected home from a football match on December 13 but never arrived.
Police carried out a search and discovered a Toyota Yaris car in Shotesham Ford off Mill Lane, between Shotesham and Newton Flotman, shortly after 9.40am the next day.
Mr Howard was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mill Lane was closed for the majority of the day and a police helicopter was seen flying over the A140 nearby. Police drones were also spotted.
The ford crosses the river Tas, which has been fast-flowing and swollen with water in recent weeks following long periods of heavy rain.
Following the tragedy, the council closed Mill Lane until at least January 3, saying conditions there were "unsafe".
An inquest into Mr Howard's death was opened by area coroner Samantha Goward at Norfolk Coroner’s Court on December 28.
She revealed that Mr Howard was a retired company director and was married to Patricia Howard.
He was born on August 31, 1948, in Norwich and lived at Bawburgh Close in Costessey, Norwich.
The medical cause of death was given as drowning.
A full inquest will take place next year on July 16.
