A motorist in a Norfolk village has captured on camera a "creepy" incident where a thief broke into her locked car in the middle of the night.

Darcy Swanston, 20, of Ditchingham, near Bungay, didn't realise her VW Polo had been targeted until later when she checked CCTV from the night before.

The footage shows the man walking over to the car, pulling on the door, before having a look inside and trying something similar to the car parked next to it.

Ms Swanston's neighbours in the village also had their cars targeted.

THE VIDEO:

Ms Swanston said no damage to her car occurred during the break-in.

Ms Swanston said: "The car was locked, I know that for sure and annoyingly have had to reiterate that point. In the video you see the person doing something to get it open.

"It is scary and really creepy, you just don't expect this to happen in our quiet village, but other car owners in the area need to be aware it is happening."
