This week the signage for a new store went up in Chantry Place. 

Flannels, a designer brand retailer, will be open in the former Sports Direct premises from spring 2024.

But what is Flannels and what do city shoppers need to know about it?

Flannels stocks a range of women's, men's and children's designer goods.

Fashion from brands such as Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Stone Island, Balenciaga and Saint Laurent are on offer, as well as beauty products and homeware from giants like Dior, Chanel, Versace and Chanel.

Customers can shop Flannels' collection online or visit one of its 50+ stores across the UK.

According to its website, Flannels' mission is to bring "luxury beauty to the regions" through its "state-of-the-art" store designs.

The company was founded in the north of England by Neil Prosser in 1976. 

Prosser remained its managing director until it was acquired by the Frasers Group in 2017.

The Frasers Group owns several brands including Sports Direct, House of Fraser, Everlast, Jack Wills and I Saw It First. 

It is currently headed by CEO Michael Murray.
