A boy arrested after reports of a stabbing at a Norwich school is to face no further action after police confirmed the cause of the injury was "accidental".

The boy had been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following an incident at the City of Norwich School in Eaton at about 2.15pm on October 12.

It resulted in another boy being taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) with a stab wound thought to have been caused by a tail comb.

The boy who was arrested had been bailed until early in the new year, although it has since emerged he is to face no further action.

A Norfolk police spokesman said: "Following a thorough police investigation, officers have established that the cause of the injury was accidental.

"The boy arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm has been released without charge and no further action will be taken.

 "The investigation has been closed."
