An acrobat who fell 30ft from a 'giant wheel of death' is said to be in good condition.

The circus performer broke his arm and leg after plunging an estimated 9m from the top of a rotating circus apparatus at a Christmas show held at the Great Yarmouth Hippodrome on Wednesday.

The show was quickly brought to a halt as hundreds of people watched privacy screens put up around the cast member. Two doctors from the audience - believed to be an off-duty police officer and a paramedic - came to help.

On Friday, circus manager Jack Jay said the performer was in good condition

"He's healthy and recovering," Mr Jay added.

"He is in the process of being treated for injuries to his extremities - broken arm and leg. But everything else is in great condition."

The show, called the Christmas Spectacular, was stopped for the evening and the audience was asked to leave the venue.

The act itself will not reappear in the show lineup - but the rest of the international cast are working hard to keep the show going, Mr Jay said.

No one else was hurt.
