A city centre restaurant is closed for refurbishment.

Nando's in Red Lion Street is closed while work is under way inside the building from December 4 until December 16.

The refurbishment follows the recent installation of a new hatch at the front of the restaurant to serve delivery drivers and takeaway customers without them having to queue.

The planning application for the window stated that it would "significantly improve the overall efficiency and functionality of the restaurant".

The chicken chain has not confirmed details of the refurbishment but large parts of the interior have been stripped away.

The investment comes as Nando's announced its plans to open 14 new sites across the UK during the coming months.

The chain said it has returned to profit for the first time since the pandemic struck in its latest set of financial accounts.

Nando's in Riverside remains open while work is ongoing at the Red Lion Street restaurant.
