Norfolk business Sekura Mobile Intelligence has secured both the Rising Star of the Year award, sponsored by Birketts, and the Growth Business of the Year award, sponsored by Ashtons Legal, at the EDP Business Awards 2023.

Based in Aylsham, Sekura Mobile Intelligence is a global mobile identity company that works directly with network operators to securely handle the subscriber data of up to
2.5 billion customers.

Founded in 2019, the company offers a range of services via its Sekura API Framework (SAFr) platform, helping to protect customers against SIM swap frauds and other scams in real time.
Partner firms are given exclusive access to Sekura’s platform and can then work with their own customers – including major international banks, fintech, cryptocurrency, gaming and e-commerce companies – to verify, onboard and log in end users safely and securely.

Sekura has issued generous share options to each team member and also sponsors Norwich City Football Club. The company strongly believes in a global service with a local approach.

The judges said Sekura is “a textbook example of an innovative and disruptive solution being well exploited”, noting the “significant investment” which is now seeing its solution used by major corporations internationally.

The judging panel added that the company has a “clear vision regarding global growth” and said it was “nice to see that there are no plans to move the head office from Aylsham.”

They also noted the significant share options available for all, which encourages staff to be part of the growth potential.

Matt Cooper, head of global marketing at Sekura, said: “We are honoured and elated to be the winners of not one, but two awards. When we look around at some of the terrific Norfolk businesses, it makes the achievements even more special.

“We have plans to increase our coverage from 2.5 billion people to four billion in 2024 and have our official launch in India as well as developing new products and expanding our team. It’s full speed ahead.”

Azure Outdoor Living, Comm-Tech Voice and Data and Pure Physiotherapy were also shortlisted for the Growth Business of the Year award.

The other finalists in the Rising Star of the Year category were Ambition Public Relations, SkiYodl and The Goat Shed.
