A "quintessential" north Norfolk bar and grill will be transformed into a new high-end restaurant thanks to a husband and wife team.

Carl and Katie Stairs have taken over Sammy's, in East Runton, which will undergo an extensive refurbishment to overhaul the interior and exterior into a "luxury" eatery.

The former grill has also been rechristened as The White Horse, with the Stairs' hoping to offer a "unique experience distinct from other establishments in the area".

"This isn't just a refurbishment - it's a community-involved evolution," the pair said.

"We're eager to include local and holidaymaker feedback in shaping the venue's future offerings in food, music, and entertainment.

"We want to ensure the White Horse stands out as an asset for locals and seasonal tourists alike."

The venue's reopening has been provisionally set for next summer as work gets under way to fully transform its interior, exterior and live entertainment capabilities.

The White Horse will have an "extensive" menu that will cater to "varied tastes and preferences" from breakfast service to evening meals.

Carl and Katie added: "The White Horse is not just undergoing a physical makeover; it's being reborn with a new spirit that aims to be a cornerstone of the community."
