An inquest has opened into the death of a farmer who was hit by a train earlier this month.
Stephen Pilch died on Thursday, November 9, after he was struck by a train near Diss.
During a short hearing at Norfolk Coroner's Court, senior coroner for Norfolk, Jacqueline Lake, confirmed that Mr Pilch was a retired farmer who lived in Diss.
He was born in Norwich and was 68 years old.
The medical cause of his death was given as severe traumatic injuries suffered during the collision with the train.
The incident happened between Diss and Norwich at around 7.45pm and saw British Transport Police and paramedics attend the scene.
It saw services from the capital terminated in Diss and limited replacement bus services operate between the town and Norwich across the evening.
A full inquest has been scheduled to take place on Monday, June 3, 2024.
