The duo behind a much-loved Korean restaurant in Norwich city centre have expanded with a new takeaway shop a stone's throw away.

Junghee Park, 54, and her husband and chef Bongha Kim, 56, opened The Kimchi in Brigg Street in October 2019.

They both grew up in South Korea but they met in Australia and moved to London in 2005.

Then, after spotting the perfect premises for their own restaurant, they relocated to Norwich.

The Kimchi has built up a huge customer base over the last four years and it is fully booked most evenings.

It serves Korean comfort food, including bibimbap rice dishes and fried chicken.

Mr Kim and Mrs Park have now launched a second city eatery called Seoul Born, which is in the former home of the fish and chip shop in Orford Place.

Mrs Park said: "Our restaurant is small so we wanted to open Seoul Born so more people can enjoy our food and it also gives us the space to do takeaways.

"Lots of people like chicken with chips but our motto is 'Korean chicken is nice with rice' and we serve fried chicken boxes and rice bowls.

"The reaction so far has been very good and we have had some lovely feedback.

"It is a very simple menu and different from The Kimchi where we serve more traditional dishes."

The rice bowls come with either fried chicken, fried prawns or grilled chicken thighs, served with apple kimchi slaw, pickled vegetables, dumplings, seasonal greens and glass noodles.

The fried chicken boxes come with various sauces and glazes.
