A chip shop has finally reopened after Storm Ciarán flooded the Norfolk Broads last week.

The Nippy Chippy on the Broads, in Bridge Road in Potter Heigham, reopened its doors after eight days on Wednesday.

But manager Liam Chipperfield said the losses from the closure will be hard to recover.

He said: "We're going to be playing catch-up all winter.

"It's shaping up to be a tough time so it will be a case of using us or losing us as we struggle to stay afloat."

Mr Chipperfield explained the business tries to stay open all year round to keep costs down.

"We don't want to have to close in the winter," he said. "We try to be a local community chip shop and charge as little as possible by staying open out of season to keep the costs down, but it's difficult.

"They're predicting another storm soon so it makes you nervous because you never know if it's going to happen again."

He added that they had been offered no support from any local authorities.

The shop is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4.30pm to 7.30pm and Thursdays and Fridays from 12pm to 1.30pm and 4.30pm to 7pm.

The Nippy Chippy on the Broads also runs a mobile van, Nippy Chippy Norfolk which takes orders in Norwich and can be booked for functions.
