Police have issued a warning after a 15ft deep sinkhole appeared in a busy Norfolk street.

The hole - which is around one metre wide - was reported this morning on Garden Street, in the centre of Cromer, close to the seafront.

It is located outside an opticians and near to other high street businesses.

Eastern Daily Press:

The street has been shut and police have already told local firms it may not reopen for a week - or possibly even longer if the sinkhole gets bigger.

Officials from the highways department are also at the scene carrying out investigations.

The police have put up a cordon and have asked the public to avoid the area.

Eastern Daily Press:

Cromer, like other areas of the region, has been hit with heavy rainfall in recent days.

When a sinkhole opened in the High Street of the nearby town of Sheringham in 2019, it took three months for it to be repaired.
