The team at an award-winning Norfolk pub is toasting to success after earning a coveted second AA Rosette for culinary excellence.

Chef Richard Crouch and his partner Emily Phipps took on The Angel at Watlington, located between Downham Market and King's Lynn, in 2018.

It has since won a whole host of awards and accolades, including being named among the UK's top 100 gastropubs in 2022.

There is a big focus on local and seasonal produce and the quality of its food was recognised in October 2022 when it was awarded its first AA rosette.

A year on, The Angel at Watlington has now been upgraded to two AA Rosettes following a surprise lunchtime visit from an inspector on November 1.

These are "excellent restaurants" with "obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients".

Ms Phipps said: "We are thrilled and all our team has played their part - we want to thank our amazing local suppliers and producers too.

"We are now hungry for another Rosette and we want to keep bringing the King's Lynn area to the culinary forefront."
