A motorist has been banned after causing a crash with a cyclist while more than twice the drug drive limit for cocaine.

Koray Salih, 47, was at the wheel of a VW Golf when the crash happened in Witard Road in the Heartsease area of Norwich on April 7.

Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told his behaviour in the immediate aftermath had aroused the suspicions of police as he was seen pacing around and acting in an agitated hyperactive way.

After he failed a roadside drugs wipe, analysis of a blood test found the proportion of cocaine was double the 10mg per litre limit.

Paul Brown, prosecuting, said his impaired state and the unacceptable manner of his driving were also aggravating factors.

He said he had turned into the path of the cyclist after overtaking them.

Magistrates disqualified him from driving for two years and ordered him to pay fines and costs of £441.
