An electric car charging station has been given the go-ahead near the main A47 and A17.

Provider Fastned has been given planning permission for 12 charging points on land off Clenchwarton Road, close to the Pullover Roundabout on the outskirts of King's Lynn where the two routes meet.

It says in a planning statement: "Fastned's mission is to give freedom to electric drivers and accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility.

"A core aim is to provide the best user experience for fast charging (300kW+) for all EVs on primary routes, to create a network of stations which will unlock cross-country, regional, and local journeys."

The company says it plans to deliver 1,000 fast charging stations across the UK and Europe.

It adds the availability of reliable charging infrastructure is holding back the growth of electric vehicles.

"The phrase of ‘range anxiety’ has long been used, caused by the possibility of not completing a journey due to lack of charge," it says. "But this is now coupling with ‘charger anxiety’ due to not knowing when or where a charger will be found."
