A renovated Grade II listed home dating back to the 18th century has come up for sale in the Suffolk village of Rickinghall, close to the Norfolk border, at a guide price of £1,100,000.

Ridge House was originally two cottages when it was built in the 1700s.

They were later joined together behind the current property’s Georgian frontage, with hidden historical details tastefully restored and large, well-proportioned rooms brought up to date.

The four-bedroom house has a separate two-bed converted coach house, ideal for older relatives or teens who want a bit of independence. Selling agents abbotFox Bespoke say it could also be used as a holiday let with the right permissions.

A former stable adjoining the coach house has planning permission to be converted into additional accommodation, including a large modern extension connecting the stable to the main house.

The ground floor of the main house features two good-sized reception rooms, as well as a study, kitchen, cloakroom and utility room. The spacious hallway has a sweeping staircase with impressive moulded details, and there is also a useful cellar.

Both reception rooms have a “timeless feel”, according to abbotFox Bespoke. The rooms feature large brick hearths with wood-burning stoves inset, ceiling roses in the centre, sash windows and picture rails.
