Events have been cancelled and attractions are shut as Storm Babet brings heavy rain and high winds to Norfolk.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain for the whole of the county, which has been in place since midnight today and lasts until 6am on Saturday.

There is also a yellow weather warning in place for wind on the Norfolk coastline from 12noon today until 12noon on Saturday.

There has already been disruption on Norfolk's roads, including flooding on the A47 near Easton.

CLOSED ATTRACTIONS/CANCELLED EVENTS

  • Amazona Zoo, Cromer- closed on Friday due to the wet weather. 
  • Banham Zoo - Banham Zoo is closed for the safety of guests, staff, volunteers and animals on Friday. All tickets dated for October 20 will be valid until December 31 2023. 
  • BeWILDerwood, Hoveton - Closed to day visitors and for the Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade on Friday, people with pre-booked tickets can swap for another date - email yoohoonorfolk@bewilderwood.co.uk. 
  • ​​Catton Park Lantern Parade - This free family event was due to take place on Friday evening.
  • Church Farm PYO pumpkins - Church Farm in Heacham launched its first pumpkin patch this year. It will be shut on Friday but it will be back open at 10am on Saturday. 
  • Crown Point Estate PYO pumpkins - This new pumpkin patch, on the outskirts of Norwich, will be closed on Saturday due to the bad weather - book for another date. 
  • Fakenham Racecourse racing - Racing abandoned at 7am on Friday due to 17mm of rain falling since 2.30am.
  • Go Ape, Thetford - Due to the heavy rain overnight, the segway trails have flooded so this experience will not be running today - customers will be contacted to rearrange bookings. The Challenge and Challenge Plus sessions will be running as normal, with waterproofs and gloves available at the site. They are currently monitoring the weather for the Sundown sessions. 
  • Holt Country Park and Pretty Corner Woods, Sheringham - These car parks were closed at 4pm yesterday due to the forecasted strong winds and rain. They will remain closed until the weather has passed and the rangers have been able to assess the sites for risk.
  • Mussel Festival, Brancaster Staithe - The first day of The White Horse's Mussel Festival has been cancelled due to the weather. However, it will still be running from 12noon on Saturday and Sunday. 
  • Norfolk Wildlife Trust - The boat trails at Hickling and Ranworth are cancelled on Friday due to Storm Babet.
  • Old Buckenham Country Park - Closed Friday, reopening at 9am on Saturday.
  • PrimEvil, Lenwade - Norfolk's biggest scare attraction PrimEvil, which takes place at Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure, is cancelled on Friday evening due to bad weather and the resulting road closures.
