The man behind a tiny beer shop in a phone box has dialled up his operation by relocating to a larger new home in Norwich.

Saul Press, 40, first opened The Beer Hatch in the red phone box outside Zizzi restaurant in Tombland in August 2022.

After more than a year there, Mr Press has now relocated his business to 22a Wensum Street, in the former home of Phillip's Cameras next to The Ribs of Beef pub.

He said: "I did outdoor seating at the phone box this summer and more people got to know about my business and I have built up a nice customer base.

"However it gets quiet in the winter, so I was considering relocating permanently and then I found this place in Wensum Street.

"It is ideal as it is so close to where I was before so people already know about me in the area."

The new Beer Hatch shop currently offers three beers on tap, which will go up to six soon and rotate regularly.

While it is primarily a bottle shop, customers can also sit in with a pint as there is some bench seating.

The canned and bottled beers include East Anglian favourites such as Wildcraft, Duration Brewing and Ampersand and there are ciders and Cocktail Canaries' pre-mixed drinks too.

Mr Press also has a growler and bottle filler so customers can takeaway the beers on tap, with glass containers available for a £5 deposit.

He added: "We opened on Saturday and it was really busy all day - it is something different for Norwich and people were surprised at how quickly I got the shop ready."

The Beer Hatch is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am to 4.30pm and Thursday to Saturday from 11am to 8.30pm (closed Sunday and Monday).
