Six weeks of work to replace the traffic lights at a busy town junction will begin later this month.

The Department for Highways, Transport and Waste will start replacing the signals at the junction of the A149, B1145 and Cromer Road in North Walsham on October 23.

The works will be carried out in stages to remove the old equipment and cables and install new underground infrastructure and lights.

According to the department, the lights have reached the end of their serviceable life and the replacement, costing £105,000, will ensure continued reliability in the area.

To carry out this scheme, temporary three-way traffic lights and a westbound lane closure from Cromer Road will be put in place.

Carriageway resurfacing work will also be carried out on the junction throughout the traffic light replacement to help minimise disruption.
