A man found with 10 kilos of cannabis at his Norwich address with a street value of more than £100,000 had been "storing it for other individuals" a court has heard.

Richard Walsh, 45, was stopped by police driving a silver Audi car near to Norwich City's Carrow Road stadium when cannabis and cash were found.

Norwich Crown Court heard officers found a "significant quantity" of cannabis as well as cash in the bedroom of his home at Geoffrey Watling Way in Norwich.

A total of £4,630 in cash was also found at his property following the incident in April 23 last year.

Walsh, of Geoffrey Watling Way, Norwich, appeared at court on Tuesday (October 3) having previously admitted being concerned in the supply of class B drugs and possession of criminal property.

Michael Clare, for Walsh, said the defendant's case was that the drugs "were not his" and he was "holding them for someone else".

He said as a holder of the drugs he was playing a "lesser role" and was entitled to credit for plea.

Mr Clare said Walsh, who has had mental health difficulties, was studying for a bachelor of the arts in photography in Norwich.

The barrister added Walsh, who has been addicted to class A drugs which has resulted in his "fragile mental health", also runs a photography group for ex-addicts of alcohol and drugs.

Mr Clare insisted Walsh had pleaded guilty on the basis he was holding but did not own the drugs and was doing so for other people who were "using his house".

Recorder David Stevens adjourned sentence until Friday (October 6) when the case will be before Judge Andrew Shaw who has previously dealt with the matter.
