A pub that closed during the Covid pandemic is now applying for a new licence.

John and Deborah Beavers have applied to Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC) for a new licence for the Wheelwrights Arms, on Beccles Road in Gorleston.

The application is asking for permission to sell alcohol and play recorded music from 9am to 2am every day.

The landlords also want to be able to have live music and anything similar to live music, recorded music and dance from 8pm to 12am on Friday and Saturday.

The Wheelwrights Arms, a 150-year-old pub, closed during the Covid pandemic.

In 2020, Ms Beavers applied to GYBC to convert the pub into a house

The council permitted this - but on the condition the change of use could be carried out only by Ms Beavers, and that if the premises ceased to be occupied by her, the building would have to return to being a pub.

Ms Beavers appealed the condition to the Planning Inspectorate but saw her case dismissed.

The pub has twice been up for auction, in 2021 and again earlier this year.
