An award-winning Norfolk pub has been named among the most sustainable watering holes in the UK.

The Angel at Watlington, near King's Lynn, was taken on by couple Emily Phipps and chef Richard Crouch in 2018.

Its big focus on local and seasonal produce has earned it a spot in the Green Pub Guide 2023 and it also featured in 2022.

The Angel at Watlington is the only place in Norfolk to feature.

It is praised for its locally sourced food with meats from nearby farms, reclaimed wood furniture, its digital and text receipts to reduce paper and recycling to achieve low waste.

Ms Phipps said: "It is brilliant to have some recognition that the policies we already have in place as well as those we are developing are helping the environment."

In October 2022, The Angel earned its first AA rosette for culinary excellence and it was also named UK Pub of the Year at the Innovation and Excellence Awards 2023.
