The team behind a long-running Indian restaurant in Norwich city centre has branched out into street food. 

Sheikh Ashraf Ali, Sheikh Affsor Ali, Sheikh Sunwar Ali and Nishant Murria are all business partners in The Merchants of Spice, which launched along Colegate in 2012.

They then expanded with a second premises in Yarmouth Road in nearby Thorpe St Andrew in 2017.

They have now opened a new restaurant called Bombai, which serves authentic Indian street food in the former home of The Bengal Spice at 38-40 St Benedicts Street. 

The menu is split into small plates, tandoori street plates with marinated meats, roadside curries, nibbles and side dishes, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available.

Mr Murria said: "The new restaurant is unlike anywhere else in Norfolk and it serves proper Indian food you would find served on the roadside.

"People from the Indian community in the city have told us how excited they are as it is the food they were missing."

It is open daily from 12noon-2pm, with a £9.95 thali lunch deal, and 5.30pm to 10.30pm (closed Tuesdays).
