A road closure was put in place in a Norfolk village after an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning (September 16).

A source said that the Feltwell Spar and Post Office, near Thetford, was ram-raided at around 2.10am and it is believed that the cash machine was stolen.

The source also said that a police chase ensued and that it is the second time this has happened.

The High Street was shut while police dealt with the incident.

The Round Norfolk Relay taking place this weekend also had to cancel one of the stages of the running event, between Feltwell and Wissington, due to the "ongoing police incident".

Teams were told to go directly to Wissington.

The same Post Office, which had a One Stop instead of a Spar at the time, was ram-raided in 2018 and had a cash machine stolen.

Norfolk Police have been contacted for more information.
