A former Norwich City player is to stand trial along with a woman in a case involving the supply of psychoactive substances.

Jamar Loza, 29, who played six games for the Canaries before he was released in 2016, has been charged with converting criminal property, namely about £27,000, between January and February this year, and possession of criminal property, namely £645 in cash, on August 17, 2022.

Former Jamaica international Loza, of Lapwing Drive, Norwich, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Friday (September 15).

He appeared alongside his co-defendant Lydia Punchard, 23, who has been charged with supplying a psychoactive substance, namely nitrous oxide - or 'laughing gas' - to another between February and August 2022.

Punchard, of Church Street, Melton Constable, has also been charged with possession of a psychoactive substance, namely nitrous oxide, with intent to supply on August 25, 2022.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges and will stand trial on December 2 next year.

Loza, who scored once for City, began his career at the club and made his Premier League debut for the Canaries against Arsenal in 2014.

That same year he also won four caps for Jamaica.

While with Norwich, he had loan spells at football league clubs including Southend, Coventry and Leyton Orient.

He has also played in the upper echelons of non-league with King's Lynn, Maidstone United, Woking and Barnet before joining Leiston, in Suffolk, earlier this year.
