Management at an east coast theatre expressed pride this week with the launch of a brand new comedy club.

With work behind the scenes at the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft having gathered pace over recent weeks, the venue reopened last Friday.

And staff at the Marina Theatre said they were "thrilled" to announce the launch of their brand new Comedy Club which begins on Friday, October 13 with headliner Ivo Graham.

Sam Vallerius, general manager of the Marina Theatre, said: "We are so happy to be announcing our Marina Comedy Club.

"We have wanted to start comedy nights for a long time so for it to be finally happening is a very exciting time for the theatre."

Ivo Graham is a household name having appeared on Have I Got News For You, QI, Mock the Week, The Last Leg and Live at the Apollo.

Joining him will be up and coming comedians Jake Lambert and Dinesh Nathan.

MC for the evening will be Northern Irish comic, Matthew McAloone.

The Marina Theatre’s programme and marketing manager, Natalie Hewis, said: "We have really enjoyed working with Rangatainment Comedy to get our own club started.

"Comedians are really popular with our audiences so to be able to offer a monthly comedy night is a real bonus for the theatre and the town."

A spokesman for Rangatainment Comedy, who have been running comedy nights across the UK for over 15 years, said: "We are very excited to be working alongside the Marina Theatre to bring top-notch comedy shows to the people of Lowestoft."

Following October’s show, the Marina Comedy Club will also be held on Thursday, November 16 with headliner Stephen Bailey.
