A man in his 70s has been found dead after a fire at a bungalow in a Norfolk town.

Police were called at 7.07am on Thursday to the building in Henry's Court, Watton, by the fire service.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "There was certainly a lot of commotion."

Another longtime resident, who is a former county councillor, and who also did not want to be named, said: "It's so quiet round here, nothing ever happens.

"All I ever see is people driving to work and driving back home again.

"There are a lot of elderly people who live down here and to know one of them has died in a house fire is very sad.

"There were fire investigators here all day after it happened.

"It's very sad indeed."

The death is not believed to be suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
