The Dog Day scheduled for a Norfolk garden this weekend has been postponed due to the hot weather.

The event, in aid of Norfolk Greyhound Rescue, was set to take place at Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden in South Walsham, near Acle, this Sunday, September 10.

It featured 10 fun categories, including cutest pup, golden oldie and waggiest tale.

However, it has now been postponed, with the new date yet to be announced, as the mercury is set to remain in the high 20s on Sunday.

"The event was originally planned for our open back fields, which lack sufficient shade to guarantee the comfort and safety of our furry friends."

Dogs are still welcome in the garden on Sunday, with free entry instead of the normal 40p fee, where they can instead enjoy the shade under the trees.

There will be dog-friendly splash pools and drink stations across the grounds and there will be a barbecue and music in the picnic area too.
