Wednesday (September 6) and Thursday (September 7) will see highs of around 29C, potentially reaching a maximum of 31C.

The Met Office has warned of "uncomfortable nights" as temperatures remain in the mid-to-high teens and 20s even after dark.

Temperatures will remain high at the end of the week with temperatures of up to 29C in Norfolk.

The heatwave is partly a result of a change in wind direction, bringing in warm air from the continent.
