A lifeboat crew has been called out to investigate a pink inflatable spotted drifting off the Suffolk coast.

The Lowestoft Lifeboat team were called at 12.38pm on Wednesday (August 30) to reports of an inflatable floating out at sea.

Coxswain John Fox said: "We were called following the sighting of an inflatable some distance from shore with fears that there could be someone on it who was in trouble.

"We quickly launched our RNLI lifeboat ‘Patsy Knight' and when we reached the inflatable it was four miles off the Kessingland coast."

The crew discovered it was a child's pink flamingo inflatable toy.

The UK Coastguard then communicated with crews to tell them that no one had been reported missing.

The crew returned to Lowestoft lifeboat station with the deflated flamingo toy.
