A fundraiser has been set up to help a Norfolk mum-of-two who “lost her entire home and four of her cats” in a house fire.

The fire broke out at her semi-detached property at Wood View, in North Walsham, at around 5pm last Wednesday (August 23).

The neighbour in the adjoining house had to evacuate her home, and others living nearby described seeing the “flashing of blue lights” rush past their homes, as fire engines from several north Norfolk stations attended the scene.

A public GoFundMe fundraiser set up for the family the following day said: “Yesterday my friend and her sons tragically lost their entire home due to a fire.

“She has also lost four of her beloved cats, which she absolutely adored, and I am trying to take the pressure off of her and her family by reaching out to the public.

“Anything you can spare will be a massive help as they will need to start again with nothing.”

The creator of the GoFundMe page went on to say it was the North Walsham mum's birthday two days after the fire - and that she was going to take her family on holiday to Greece on Monday (August 28), but their passports were destroyed in the blaze.

“School starts in less than two weeks and the children don’t even have a uniform to wear,” it continued.

“Please, please Facebook if you have anything at all, even items of clothing, as I’m sure she will be eternally grateful.”
