Lyndsey Murfet, trustee of the centre, said: "Finding someone to rent land off for a small holding to help sick and injured animals is becoming completely impossible and every time it's a little bit of our hearts being chopped away knowing no one wants to help these animals.

"We've put so much money into doing it all the right way, we've watched our supplies and materials be reduced to ruins from waiting on decisions and promises, and now we are just running on empty trying to find a premises."

The organisation said it will not be rescuing any more animals for the foreseeable future, but would continue to operate as a sanctuary for current patients.

Kelly Wolmer, director of the organisation, said: "It breaks our heart thinking this may be the end for our rescue.

"It would be extremely sad if we couldn't help all the animals we have as we are one of the very few and needed rescues in the area."
