A restaurant in the Norfolk Broads is closing its doors after not getting "enough bums on seats".

Flavours of Horning, located in Ferry Road, took to social media on Sunday to share the news of its "emotional" closure, earmarked for the end of September.

Owner Keith Evans took over the former Clubhouse café in the Ferry Marina following its closure and opened his new bistro in May last year.

The former head chef at the Blue Boar in Sprowston, Mr Evans brought to Horning the flavours of the Mediterranean and traditional English dishes.

In April, the restaurant reopened after the winter season and relaunched its sell-out roasts on Easter Sunday, as well as introducing a cake table with homemade sausage rolls and pies.

But the Norwich-born restauranteur has since taken the decision to close in order to focus more on his burgeoning catering business.

"It's simply a case of not enough bums on seats and being situated in the wrong place," he said.

"The catering business, Hidden Kitchen Catering, is doing really well again after a rocky few years and I'm going to focus my energies on that."

"But I wouldn't say never ever to reopening another restaurant in Norfolk, somewhere closer to the city I think."

Flavours of Horning is due to close on September 30.
