An award-winning Norfolk gastropub has been voted one of the best in the UK by a prestigious food guide.

The Gunton Arms in north Norfolk has been crowned as one of the best country pubs for its decadent interior, picturesque setting and Michelin-quality food.

The 18th-century building is hidden in a 1,000-acre deer park and the vast fields surrounding it provide a sense of tranquility.

BBC Good Food chose the "country pub meets house-hotel" in its round-up of the nation's best, which praised places that had gone the extra mile to create an outstanding atmosphere.

Writer Andy Lynes noted the "sense of occasion" created by venison served from the 1,000-acre deer park surrounding the pub, and local beef which is cooked over a large open fire in the pub's Elk Room.
