A weekend of severe weather paired with a tidal storm surge saw parts of the north Norfolk coast awash this weekend.

Photos taken at Brancaster show the car park underwater and the Crab Hut still trying to serve with waves lapping at its steps.

One person was even seen paddleboarding down the flooded river.

A yellow weather warning was enforced by the Met Office on Saturday (August 5) due to the risk of flash flooding and disruption to travel.

A flooding alert was put in place in parts of Norfolk yesterday (August 6), with areas including Heacham and Brancaster affected.

Drone images showed waves almost going over the sea defences next to the golf club at Brancaster beach on August 3, where an unseasonal low-pressure system caused a small tidal surge.

The photographs were taken by local photographer Gary Pearson.
