Music by legendary jazz pianist Sir George Shearing will get toes tapping at an upcoming gig in north Norfolk.

Sir George’s great-nephew and Holt resident Carl Gorham will compère and play the drums at the September 5 gig.

Mr Gorham said: “Our live show combines the music with the extraordinary story of Sir George.

“He went from being a pub pianist in Lambeth to playing at the White House for three different US presidents, from being a 16-year-old playing request for tips to an international best-selling recording artist with Nat King Cole and Peggy Lee, as well as with his own quintet.”

Sir George composed more than 300 songs and had multiple albums on the Billboard charts between the 1950s and the 1990s.

He died aged 91 in 2011 in New York City.

Mr Gorham said the concert at Holt’s Auden Theatre would feature a “who's who of British jazz” including Pete Long on the saxophone, Anthony Kerr on vibes and Natalie Williams on vocals.
